Why Tasks exists
A list is often the right place to begin. The trouble starts when the work develops stages, context and collaborators, and the list can no longer show what is happening. Tasks was built to cross that gap without making the first task harder to capture.
An Apple-first decision
Focusing on Apple devices makes it possible to use native controls, CloudKit, widgets, Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, extensions and platform conventions deeply. It also means Tasks is not available on Web, Windows or Android, and we say that plainly.
A product with a person behind it
