Create a task with Shortcuts

Make a shortcut that asks for a task title and saves it.

Build your shortcut

  1. Open Apple Shortcuts and create a new shortcut.
  2. Search for Tasks and add Create task.
  3. Set the title to Ask Each Time.
  4. Choose the project where the task should go, such as Inbox.
  5. Name the shortcut, such as Add a task.

Start with just a title and a project.

Try it

  1. Run the shortcut and enter Buy milk.
  2. Open Tasks and check your chosen project.
  3. Run it with Siri by saying the shortcut’s name.

Optional: open the task afterwards

  1. Add Open Task after Create task.
  2. Pass the created task to that action.
  3. Run the shortcut again to check it opens the new task.
